This is one of the oldest ministries in our Roman Catholic tradition.
(see 2 Kings 22:4, First Book of Chronicles 9:19 and 23:1-5, and
Jeremiah 35:4)
Ministers of Hospitality need to be members of the parish, be willing
to be fingerprinted, and have the consent of their parent/guardian
if they are under 18 years old.
They should arrive 15 minutes prior to Mass to ensure the rest rooms
are in order, to aid anyone requiring assistance, to select a family
to present the gifts at the Offertory, and welcome all attendees.
During Mass they will collect the offerings, prepare the family
to present the gifts, and direct parishioners during Communion to
the priest or Minister of the Eucharist, or direct these ministers
to take the Eucharist to those unable to walk.
After Mass the Ministers of Hospitality will securely deposit the
collections in the safe, distribute parish bulletins and notices,
and collect from the church any lost items or trash.
